It's been a long time since I updated my reading journey. But as I finally have some time let me tell you how ridiculous this book gets.
The last time we had a few earthquakes throughout the day and even ended on one as Jaxon and Grace were kissing.
Day 6
The next day Grace wakes up in her bed. She's a bit dizzy from yesterday but the biggest question is: how did she get here?
Macy, her uncle, and a nurse are in Grace's room to make sure she’s okay because she lost a lot of blood.
They tell her that glass from the broken window cut her vein. But something doesn't add up, so she notes that she will have to investigate it later.
Soon after a small talk and making sure that Grace is fine, her uncle and Macy walk out to get some food and she’s left with the nurse.
Grace starts asking the nurse about her wound, when the stitches will be taken, and stuff like that.
But the nurse makes the story even more suspicious by saying that the stitches will dissolve by themselves and that Grace shouldn’t change the dressing. For that, she should go to the nurse.
What I don’t get is why Grace is suddenly suspicious. People here are super strong and can jump at extreme heights but now she doesn’t believe that glass cut her arteries?
And of course, everything IS suspicious but I didn’t really expect logical thinking from Grace.
After her nap, Macy comes back and they have a little talk about what happened last night.
Then someone knocks on the door and it is Jaxon but he doesn’t even walk in to see if Grace is fine.
As soon as Grace hears who came to see her she decides to storm out of the room and chase Jaxon.
I have to mention that she is still very dizzy and she lost tons of blood last night. BUT Macy is not chasing her and never even tells how stupid Grace is for walking out like that.
She catches up to him on the stairs and pleads to have a talk. However, Jaxon is not having it and wants to forget everything that happened.
But the only thing that Grace knows is that he saved her, he carried her to the nurse's office and did his best to save this human being.

Everything ends with Jaxon leaving Grace where she was but just before he left he made sure to make a warning: “Stay away from me, Grace.”
This kind of reminded me of a scene in New Moon where Edward broke up with Bella but maybe it’s just me and my little brain who found this familiar.
While she’s on the way back to her dormitory she meets Lia and gets to know that their (her and Jaxon’s) parents want them both to marry each other.
She should have been with Hudson (Jaxon’s brother) but because he’s dead someone else needed to take the spot.
When Grace comes back to her room curiosity takes over her and she checks out her wound, and she finds two round puncture marks on her neck.
Day 7
She doesn’t go to sleep because she keeps checking out her wound and waits till all the drugs wear out of her system.
As soon as it happens, she goes to Jaxon’s room and knocks on his door, screaming for him to answer until one of his friends, Mekhi, comes out of the other rooms.
Apparently, Jaxon is not even in his dorm and is far away in the mountains. But that won't last long as Mekhi messages Jaxon about the bite that Grace has.
To cut thing short it's not Jaxon who bit her and Grace needs to admit that vampires exist.
Surprisingly, I thought this chapter was quite fun to read. Maybe because Grace doesn’t call everyone sexy for a hot second and is actually worried about things that matter.
They go back to her dorm and Macy opens the door confused as she was getting ready for school. (It’s really early in the morning)
And Mekhi tells her cousin that she should finally tell all the secrets about the school, or at least the main ones because now she knows about vampires.
So Grace starts asking questions: is Macy a vampire, or is her uncle?
The short answer to that is no. Macy and her dad, are witches/warlocks and so was Grace’s dad until he fell in love with a mortal (Grace’s mom). Since then he has lost his powers, so Grace shouldn’t really have them either.
But there is another plot twist to the school and here’s where I want you to answer my question:
What supernatural creature is Flint?
Warlock
Fairy
Dragon
Again because I can't do quizzes but only polls the answer is: dragon.
When I found out the answer I just couldn’t stop laughing. I knew there were going to be vampires all along but THIS I did not expect.
I shamed Grace for being oblivious but I was the same…
To quote Grace: “I mean, who needs LSD when you go to Monster High?”
I think this is the point where I started having more fun reading the book. Grace became a mood with such lines:
Macy: "And you want to know something else?"
Grace: "At this point, no. I don't. Not even a little bit. I'm done. My brain is -"
(Macy: "You should have been one, too")
So Grace keeps asking questions, and I found this funny how Tracy Wolff wants to differentiate her witches from J.K Rowling’s wizards. But the only difference I see is that one uses wands and another doesn't.

They also have werewolves here too but they’re more like shifters because they don’t need the moon to change.
And we finally get an answer about her bite. The whole story was that she did get cut with the glass and Jaxon tried to seal the wound with his vampire venom.
However, he didn’t do a good job and the nurse had to bite her again to undo some things in the end everything worked out. Don't ask me how it works, I don't know.
There are more questions asked, but they’re not that important to the whole story, just her curiosity and they finally go to get some breakfasts.
Grace has an internal monologue about who is a vampire, dragon, or other creature but as they walk into the cafeteria they meet Flint.
Flint suggests that he’ll bring her food to the table, and today she should sit with him and his friends. Grace agrees and moves to the table when the chandelier drops.
Good that at that exact moment Jaxon is back and as always saves Grace from the chandelier crushing her to bits. (Which means more pages to read)
He’s very worried about her and Grace is very worried about Jaxon. And at that moment she sees that Jaxon is injured.
What I found cute in this chapter is how Grace insists on giving first-aid to Jaxon even if she realises that he’s a vampire and probably can easily heal.
Surprisingly, and even cuter, Jaxon sits down and just watches her do her thing, while his gang (the order) has circled them, so no one can move near the couple.
At this moment, I wanted to risk it all. I knew how insane I was, but I wanted to read more books. It may be shit but it’s fun… Sometimes?
(Not going to do that though there are six books, and I’m not ready for this commitment. Maybe if someone pays me)
To interrupt the cute moment I have a question… If he is able to heal perfectly… Why does he have a scar??
Anyway, Jaxon warns Grace that someone is trying to kill her and before they can talk more her uncle comes and he wants to see Grace.
The talk between the uncle and Grace was awkwardly nice. Grace asked a lot of questions and she got to know that her dad was a very powerful warlock.
“Which is a story for another day.” her uncle says, so maybe in the third book we’ll find out. I wouldn’t know.
However, the chapter doesn’t end pleasantly as her uncle says that she should move back to San Diego.
But what was funny to me is how her first thought is: “Going back to San Diego means leaving Jaxon.”
It’s been a week gurl… Calm down….
Grace explains how her place is here and she found a new family here: Macy and her uncle.
So after that, he decides to let her stay and starts explaining what is happening. And we get to know that Jaxon is a born vampire, unlike Edward who’s been 17 for 100 years.
As soon as Grace walks out of her uncle’s office another earthquake starts. It quickly stops and after texting Jaxon a message she goes to the library.
Where she meets a librarian who’s a witch. Grace explains that she wants to get to know more about the creatures and the librarian mentions that she should start with dragons.
And who would have guessed… Our dragon Flint is there and is ready to teach Grace whatever she wants.
We get to know that he can fly, and blow fire… Which would be fine but they started tossing marshmallows and firing them IN THE LIBRARY.
He might know how to control his powers but if I was a librarian I wouldn’t have him. GET OUT OF MY LIBRARY.
Anyway, he also shows that he can control water, he shoots ice and makes flowers out of nowhere.
He also mentions that he kind of has a crush on her. “When I hit on you, it’ll be because you want me to. And we’ll both know exactly what’s going on when I do.”
Let’s be honest for a second lead that’s kind of cute. I think it’s way better than the “I’ll wait for you” lines.
However, the sweet atmosphere is broken when Flint gets a text that something is going to happen. They walk out of the library and see that The Order with Jaxon is moving somewhere.
Grace tries to call them but only one of them (Byron) looks her way but never stops. The Order walks into one of the classes and starts fighting the shifters.
She notices that he has created a barrier that’s why nobody can go and help the shifter boy. Grace being the main character has to be like: “Jaxon you’re better than this, don’t do that!”
Not the exact words but that’s the vibe you can get. But what’s funnier than that is that she sees a guy getting strangled in front of her eyes and her thoughts are: “I’m furious that he’s done this, that he’s cut me off from him and his fight so completely.”
You will see her being selfish even more in upcoming scenes. You also cannot say that she did it because she knows that Jaxon is doing it for a reason.
She doesn’t know what’s the reason. Grace assumes it’s because of her.
Even if he had a reason, it’s just wrong…
Moving to another main character moment: Grace moves through the barrier when no one can do that and Jaxon finally stops.
At least stops strangling the guy but instead, now Jaxon bites him. He starts drinking the shifter's blood until he goes limp.
Jaxon announces that this is a warning for other students, grabs Grace by her wrist and they walk out.
What made me even angrier is that Grace is just: “I go with him. Because, what else am I going to do?”
I don’t know maybe not go with a person who’s been acting like a psycho??? Just a suggestion though…
To be honest my wish is for the 7th day to end but we have more…
They walk into Jaxon’s room and Grace’s thought shocks me even more:

And....

Jaxon seems very edgy and it seems like he hates himself for what he did but Grace keeps telling him that she’s not scared.
What makes Grace even worse is that at this moment. Where Jaxon talks about how she should be scared and stuff like that… Grace is horny.
“I want to get closer to him, want to shrink the gap he’s put between us, but badass, take-no-prisoners Jaxon currently looks like he’ll bolt at the first wrong move I make”
This reminds me so much of Bella. Well, she at least didn’t actually see Edward drinking the blood which to be honest makes it better. I don’t know how would I like the person if I saw what Grace saw.
After a lot more of that, she gets to come closer to Jaxon and gives him permission to drink her blood. (In this world the victim/donor would feel pleasure when someone does that)
BUUUUT I’m here to remind you that YESTERDAY she literally fought for her life because she lost a lot of blood,
They make out a lot more and Jaxon confesses that he’s behind the earthquakes… Surprise, surprise it comes whenever he’s with Grace or he’s feeling any kind of emotions towards her.
But he can control it better now. They open up a bit more, and Grace asks about the scar, and why he’s so afraid to show it to her.
And it’s not that… Imagine the world not being around her…
Jaxon opens up about his brother Hudson and that he killed him. He did it because Hudson became a supernatural vampire Hitler: he wanted to kill all the shifters but his plan didn’t end there. In the end, everyone would be dead except born vampires.
That’s a long story short, but Jaxon still hates himself for what he did.
What I found interesting is that the newly born vampires are stronger than the previous generation. Which makes Jaxon stronger than Hudson.
I’m curious then why the younger person is not supposed to be the king of vampires. Why Hudson when they literally have someone stronger?
Well, the author explains that he had a lot of charm to talk people into things. But as I mentioned, it’s flawed because the younger vampire can fight the older and he would win… Which had happened.
So after a few chapters of horniness and nazis, we start talking about what had happened with the poor shifter guys.
Jaxon did it because he made the chandelier drop and he thinks that Flint is here to kill her too.
Of course, Grace doesn't believe him but we get to know that Flint didn't actually save Grace while she was falling down the tree. It was Jaxon who made Flint fall to help her.
After one more make-out session, the principal starts knocking on the door. He's obviously mad about what happened and Grace has to leave the room.
One line which took me by surprise is: "Plus Uncle Finn showing up at the tower shows just how far and fast the news traveled.
It took him an hour to get there... As a warlock, he should do better.
Grace goes to the lesson and her teacher makes her read "Hamlet". It's a paragraph about Ophelia and how she goes mad and Grace takes it personally.

The scene reminds Grace of her parents and everything negative in this world but before she can go on, the bell rings. She and Mheki are going to the next class but then Flint comes out.
Before the conversation properly starts between Flint and Grace, she tells him about the tree branch. Surprisingly, he's quick to admit that he did not try to save her.
"It's not for the reasons you think". She gives him a chance to talk but he doesn't want to do that in front of a vampire so he just warns her as they walk away.
They're still walking to the class but this time they meet Lia. Is this Dora the Explorer or something? Can we get to class?
Mekhi leaves them alone and Lia suggests that they should have a girl's night. Grace agrees and the conversation moves to Jaxon. She believes that they should be friends again but Lia almost starts crying.
Anyway, remember the plan they had well... Grace says: "But real friends are important not to mention few and far between - so I wait out, not letting go until Lia steps back."
Of course, this is about a hug but friends should definitely be important right?
Well, not for Grace. As soon as she sees Jaxon's text, if she can come tonight she messages "Definitely!"
Here goes your friend...
Oh, and Jaxon didn't get any punishment, or at least it's not mentioned in this chapter.
In the evening, Grace dresses up to go to Jaxon's, and as soon as they meet they start kissing. Later he puts a hoodie on her and they go outside.
They watch the northern lights and float around them. Yeah, they're literally flying around. There's a lot of kissing and, to be honest, if I would ship them it would be way interesting but I don't even like them as individuals.
After that Jaxon gives her a necklace, and they kiss some more. To make Grace warm he gets tea that Lia brought that day. Apparently, she listened to Grace and wanted to move past Hudson's death.
Then he asks for permission to bite her which at first feels good for her but I kind of think he's getting too much. She's literally becoming his blood bag, even the blood banks don't take it that often.
But what scares me even more than that is her line: "As I give myself up to Jaxon and whatever he wants from me"
In the first few chapters, her uncle suggests that she should go to a therapist... I really think she needs to go, now... Because she had never been there.
Jaxon did suck too much blood from her. But suddenly he's all in rage and telling her to get out of the room. This is what I don't get, just move your body out of the window or something, she's lightheaded from all the blood you sucked.
But Grace does as she's told because she's scared of him but what's the most horrible is that she's blaming herself.
"I'll have no one to blame but myself. Especially when it's obvious he's doing everything in his power to give me a chance to escape."
"Determined to save Jaxon the pain of having killed another person that he cares about."
And while she tries to escape she meets Lia and asks for help. Little did she know that Lia is at fault here and she shoots Jaxon in the heart.
Nowhere but the USA where a student will have a gun...
Lia explains that she tranquilized Jaxon and he will wake up in a few hours. On the other hand, it's possible that Grace might be dead by then.
So Grace keeps calling Jaxon's name and thinks about all the moments together (that shouldn't take long) until Lia gets annoyed and tranquilizes her too.
To be honest, I don't know how dying works but I would imagine that maybe she would think of her parents... Going to them... Not the guy who she met 7 days ago... That's why you shouldn't have kids guys…
The end of day 7
That was a long and eventful day... Almost... If we don't count how many chapters it took for her to get to one class.
But this is not the end. We still have to find out why Lia is murdering everyone. Why Flint wants Grace dead and more...
