A bit more filler to get more words (Day 4-5 Breakdown of Crave)

Writer's picture: Skaiste UrSkaiste Ur

Here we're looking at Crave by Tracy Wolff. It's been a whole ride but this is just the start. If you want to read the last posts: Day 1, Day 2-3.

The last time we finished with Grace who almost started World War III but happily, it did not happen and now we have the rest of the book to read.

Day 4

When she wakes up, she doesn’t have to go to school again. Now because of her ankle. But to make her day more interesting, an unknown number texts her, it happens to be Jaxon.

They text each other cringey knock-knock jokes and someone knocks on Grace’s door. It is a strange woman who brought her food and she gets to know that Jaxon asked her to do that.

I think this chapter was kind of cute and you see the characters getting to know each other and not just thinking, about how hot they are.

This does not concern the plot, but I was just really curious… Why Grace was so obsessed with freshly made whipped cream “In the middle of Alaska… In November.”

Why would you not have whipped cream there? Does the season matter in the USA for whipped cream????

To my surprise, she was NOT surprised about strawberries in Alaska IN THE MIDDLE OF NOVEMBER.

Macy was amazed by that too, but anyway…

She texts some more with Jaxon and Macy comes to check on Grace they talk about Jaxon and how much Grace likes him.

Here are some of their text messages, so you can imagine. what it looks like

Suddenly while they’re talking, they get a package and it has a book it in… And it’s Twilight (very funny Jaxon, yes he’s the one who sends it)

After this scene, we won’t even get a note that she’s reading the book. She’s too busy doing stuff and this is here for foreshadowing, I guess.

Macy goes to her classes again and she texts Jaxon after a few minutes, he asks her to open the door.

They accidentally start talking about the things they inherited from their parents and Jaxon gets a bit angsty and wants to leave the room.

However, Grace stops him and they almost kiss but he leaves.

Day 5

It’s the first day of school for Grace!

Macy and Grace chat about Jaxon (AGAIN) but then the uncle interrupts and asks a few questions before going on with his day.

Then they go to the cafeteria to get some food and as they sit down they see Jaxon coming their way.

I don’t know if you feel the same but reading these chapters was extremely boring. Yes, the text messages were cute but I want some action instead of fillers.

Grace finally meets Jaxon’s friends who call themselves Order but realises that they’re very funny even to the point where she prefers them to her cousin’s boyfriend.

Not sure about you but to me, it seems a bit shallow and mean. So for someone to be a really good friend with you they need to have hot friends?

Anyway, they keep chatting around until the bell rings and they decide to go to class. Jaxon decided to show her where the class is but Grace quickly understands that everyone is looking at them and moving out of the way.

They go to the class and apparently nobody goes in until Jaxon sits down or gets out of there and because it’s not his class he has to go.

And we’re left with Grace in class. They read “Hamlet” and soon the class finishes and she has to go outside, so she can go to her art class.

However on the way she meets Flint and he decided to show her the tunnels, where you can go through the campuses.

But everything becomes really spooky. The tunnel looks more like a jail rather than a place leading to her classes.

They also have to put a pin code to come in, but what amazes me is that Flint (or anyone else) never tells her what the numbers should be.

Finally, Grace starts thinking: “My brain is warning me that I don’t know this guy that well.”

Thank you, Grace, now look what your brain says when you’re with Jaxon… Absolutely the same thing!

Every thought in Grace’s mind shouts that she has to run away and as she does that Lia opens the gate’s door.

They start walking through the tunnel and everything seems okay, especially now that Lia is here too.

She sees weird bones everywhere but she thinks that one of the students did it but the calm atmosphere quickly changes when suddenly an earthquake hits.

The ground shakes a lot and Grace is kind of scared she’s going to die soon but with Flint's help she gets out of there. And the earthquake stops.

At that moment they spot Jaxon who’s standing there angry because he told her to keep away from Flint and look who is there with her.

They both get angry and even Grace starts shouting. It would be more entertaining than cringe if I hadn’t read the interview where the author thinks of Grace as herself.

Like no shame in authors putting themselves in their fantasies, but I don’t want to know it.

After the class, she meets up with Macy and they talk about how weird the earthquake is but the cousin has better things to do today, so Grace is left alone.

She checks her messages and Jaxon was texting her during the earthquake, so she realises that he must have been terrified.

So because she feels like a jerk, Grace decides to text him back and asks if he wants to explore the school, but before she gets an answer she does it herself.

She wanders off to the music hall and someone is playing a song she enjoyed with her parents, so she starts crying and runs away.

She arrives at the highest tower and sits there to let all her emotions out and after she does that she sees that Jaxon is standing there.

Jaxon herds her to his room and she sees a lot of bookshelves and a painting which is done by a famous painter. But instead of stumbling in one place, Jaxon puts a blanket on her and they get outside.

Jaxon wanted her to go outside to see a meteor shower which is kind of cute not going to lie, and here’s their bonding moment.

They have a talk and Grace asks important questions like: “Are you an alien?”, a fair point to be honest but a bit far off.

And everything goes fine till Grace says: “Thank you,” and then Jaxon turns into a sad teenage boy again who doesn’t need a thank you.

So before they can get sadder, and colder they get inside.

When she touches Jaxon, Grace understands that he’s freezing so makes a big deal out of it and wants to give him the blanket.

She also mentions the painting and asked if it reminded him of her and he says, yes, and they kiss.

But as soon as they do that another earthquake starts and Jaxon pushes her away and tells her to go away but before she can run away “monstrous version of Jaxon overtakes me.”

The end of day 5

She's been here for 5 days, and look what mess she created. I think at this point she should better move out, but the book would end.

Get ready for the next few days because we have more accidents and finally Grace will find out about the supernatural.
